Make Your Will Week
The key points to know are that:
Make Your Will Week will be running from 3rd to 7th March 2014
- A number of local solicitors across the area have agreed to give their time, free of charge, to write a basic Will in return for a donation to Weston Hospicecare. The link above gives contact details.
- The suggested minimum donation is £95 for a single Will or £175 for a pair of joint/mirror Wills
- People simply contact a participating solicitor of the their choice and make an appointment - mentioning MYWW when they call
- The opportunity is open to anyone but is only available for appointments during MYWW and must be booked in advance
- Unlike some similar schemes there is no obligation on those taking part to leave a legacy to Weston Hospicecare in their Will
Because having a valid, up to date Will is so important we hope MYWW will motivate everyone who needs to make or update their Will to do so - whilst providing the added satisfaction of supporting Weston Hospicecare at the same time.

The Cinnamon Trust Weston Supermare
The Cinnamon Trust is the only specialist national charity for the terminally ill and people in their later years and their much loved, much needed companion animals. We urgently need dog walking volunteers in Weston Supermare who are able to offer some much needed walks for a local resident and their handsome 6 year old Lab/Retriever Cross.
What happens if illness, injury or just the fact that we all get older eventually affects our ability to look after our four legged companions? A large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets, and feel that their only option is to rehome them, this is where our national network of dedicated volunteers step in to offer support enabling them to stay together.
We'll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we'll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we'll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays.
We are always seeking new volunteers even if you can only spare an hour a week we would love to hear from you,
Community Resilience - North Somerset
Are you looking for the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of safer, stronger and more resilient communities across North Somerset? Do you have a management/leadership background at a strategic level? Are you able to commit your time and enthusiasm to help develop Community Resilience North Somerset?
Twenty Town and Parish Councils across North Somerset are now engaging in a groundbreaking project to help build a communities capacity to respond to an emergency.
Piloted in Congresbury during 2012 this project seeks to empower communities, and support engagement with partner agencies, to reduce risk through a collaborative programme that benefits individuals, families and whole communities.
North Somerset Council is looking to appoint a small number of dynamic, charismatic volunteers to lead the future development and sustainability of resilient communities.
Working alongside the project team, Voluntary Action North Somerset (VANS) and executive leads of partner agencies you will have a critical role in helping to integrate Community Resilience North Somerset into the wider resilience community. Your efforts will help develop a sustainable network of volunteers, utilising local skills and expertise to help their community in an emergency, in a way that complements the response of the emergency services.
Community resilience North Somerset is already attracting national and international attention.

The North Somerset Play Forum promotes play by providing inclusive play opportunities for children and their families throughout the area. We believe that putting children's play at the heart of their localities benefits children and families and helps to build stronger, safer and happier communities. For over fourteen years, the Play Forum has organised and run a huge variety of activities and events, including Family Fun Days in the park, playschemes, a junior youth club, an annual 2-day multicultural festival, and Countryside Days.
We can offer a whole range of activities, including sports, games and arts and crafts workshops (which can include using natural and recycled materials) and we own some large play equipment. We can also provide outdoor sessions, such as woodland safaris, bug-hunting, pond-dipping, cooking on an open fire, etc. We are happy to come up with ideas for workshops or community events, or to provide activities on a theme (such as Fun Olympics), or give advice on play equipment. Basically, we are very flexible and are willing to have a bash at anything! Just call or e-mail us for any ideas.
Please ring Quita on 01934 844353 to discuss ideas, or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
