Youth Council
Weston-super-Mare Youth Council
Members must be aged between 11-18.
All members must live within Weston-super-Mare, at the time of election, or attend a school or college within Weston-super-Mare.
Constitution
The WYTC is to be a democratic body, with its membership aimed to be representative of all young people within the Town Council of Weston-super-Mare regardless of gender, ethnic background, disability, race or sexuality.

History
The Youth Council was formed in 2001, to offer the young people of Weston-super-Mare the opportunity to have a voice.
The Youth Council has been involved with many campaigns and events over the past seven years.
The most notable campaigns include Barcode Youth Café and Hutton Moor Wheels Area.
Mission Statement
As a Youth Councillor I:
- Will work to prove that young people are valued and can make a difference.
- Will act as a representative of young people and will voice opinions honestly and with consideration.
- Will work to support the quality of life and opportunities of all young people in Weston-super-Mare and encourage their participation and citizenship.

Training and Development
The Youth Council has attended or being involved with:
- First Aid Training.
- Held their own Workshops on the Constitution, Advocacy and Communication.
- 'People & Politics' Day, Westminster.
- Young Show Case.
- Annual Town Meetings.
- Drink Safe Campaign.
- Vote at 16 Bill, Westminster.
- British Youth Council.
Grant Funding
The Youth Council has a grants budget available to organisations which work for the benefit of youth. To apply for grant funding please write a letter of request to:

Recruitment
The Youth Council currently has a membership of 15 with a possible capacity of 31. We are currently approaching youth groups and schools to try and recruit more members.
